Since June 11, total Covid cases in Viet Nam are always over 2000. HCM city particularly has 1700 - 1800 cases per day and maybe rising more

Dangerously, Covid already presented in Mekong delta where shrimp is farming & processing the most

To tackle with the resurgence of Covid, HCM city imposed the directive 16 for stricter social distancing and closed down many traditional markets and 3 biggest wholesale markets. Other provinces in Mekong delta are also carrying out social distancing partly or fully

Domestic transportion and logistics are discontinued because the inter-provincial authorities require “negative PRC tests” to go through checkpoints on the roads and caused traffic congestion

Well, these are affecting much to shrimp industry, many factories are temporarily facing shortage of workers and raw materials. The prices of Vannamei has dropped significantly by middle last week and continueing to early this week, however; VASEP has proposed to central goverment to ease the situation by removing PRC tests, just apply quick tests for drivers together 5K method, VASEP also suggested the central goverment to prioritize vaccination for people who working in seafood industry to maintain the important production sector of nation.

Hopefully that, with actions in time of VASEP, factories, ministry of Agriculure and Rural Development (MARD) and the governemt, Viet Nam shrimp industry will stand firmly amid new resurgence of Covid and continue to grow further in this year 2021
